BakerHostetler Appoints Joann Gallagher Jones Managing Partner of the Firm's Atlanta Office

Jones brings more than 25 years' legal experience to lead the firm's full-service office

ATLANTA, Jan. 25, 2016 — BakerHostetler is proud to announce that Joann Gallagher Jones has been named Managing Partner of the firm’s Atlanta office, succeeding Partner Christopher Arena, who will focus his time on leading several major client accounts while continuing to help drive the growth of the firm’s intellectual property practice. Jones is a partner in the firm’s Business Group and a member of the Real Estate team who represents healthcare industry clients in commercial real estate development matters. She joined BakerHostetler in 2015 when the firm added a large group of attorneys from McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP. Jones served as the Managing Partner of that firm’s Atlanta office from 2010 to 2015. “As a result of our addition of Joann and her colleagues, BakerHostetler’s Atlanta office experienced transformational growth over the past year from what was initially an intellectual property-focused practice to a full-service office,” said Arena. “As a former Managing Partner, Joann is eminently qualified to lead a team across multiple practice areas, and I’m confident she will continue to propel BakerHostetler in the Atlanta market. Jones will continue to maintain her thriving real estate development and finance practice with emphasis in the healthcare industry. She routinely counsels medical providers, hospital systems, and long-term care owners and operators on financing of operations, development and restructuring of real estate holdings, and management and operation of facilities. Jones has extensive experience in leasing and ground leasing of medical office buildings and crafting compliant lease agreements between hospitals and physician groups. She also advises companies through acquisitions, development, and disposition of long-term care properties.

BakerHostetler is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its founding this year. The firm established the Atlanta office in 2014, when it combined with intellectual property boutique Woodcock Washburn. As a result of the substantial growth of leading industries in the 29-county metro Atlanta area, the firm added 32 attorneys from McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP in 2015, creating a full-service office. The 50 attorneys in the Atlanta office practice in the areas of business, employment, intellectual property, litigation, real estate, and healthcare.

Jones received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1988, and her B.A. from Chestnut Hill College, summa cum laude, in 1985. She is active in the Greater Atlanta community through her service on the board of trustees, the executive committee, and the fundraising committee for the Georgia Conservancy, a statewide, member-supported environmental organization. Jones also serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Holy Spirit Preparatory School, and is a member of the Board of Advisors for Holy Spirit College. She is a graduate of Leadership Atlanta, Class of 2013.
