<strong>WASHINGTON, D.C. – Oct. 20, 2020 –</strong> BakerHostetler is pleased to announce that partner Casie D. Collignon was recognized as a <a href="/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/MVP-BakerHostetler-Casie-Collignon.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Law360 MVP</a> in the Cybersecurity &amp; Privacy category. According to Law360, the awards honor attorneys who “have distinguished themselves from their peers by securing hard-earned successes in high-stakes litigation, complex global matters and record-breaking deals.” Spanning 38 practice areas, 189 attorneys and 76 firms, Law360 received more than 900 submissions this year.

An experienced litigator with a litany of wins, Collignon is the Digital Assets and Data Management Practice Group Leader in the firm’s Denver office. Routinely assisting clients on a host of complex issues, including data breach and other privacy-related class actions, Collignon represents healthcare companies, businesses with online services and in the social media space. Priding herself on creating new ways for clients to win, Collignon demonstrates fearlessness when working on behalf of her clients and enjoys exploring innovative ways to win cases.

Over the past year, Collignon led teams to win several significant cases, earning her spot on this year’s MVP list. The cases highlighted by Law360 in her submission include two 9th Circuit appeals in data breach class action lawsuits on behalf of [24]7.ai, a tech application company that provides online chat services. Collignon secured both dismissals on key issues concerning the Stored Communications Act and the Airline Deregulation Act. She was also the lead lawyer obtaining a complete dismissal, with prejudice, of a multi-million dollar nationwide putative class action lawsuit filed in Nevada federal court against Envision Healthcare Corporation. And she won multiple dismissals in the United States District Courts for the Northern District of California and Southern District of Florida for lack of personal jurisdiction of nationwide putative class action lawsuits against Mediant Communications Inc., which Law360 highlighted as her biggest accomplishment of the last year.

<a href="/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/MVP-BakerHostetler-Casie-Collignon.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In an interview with Law360</a>, Collignon said that she’s willing to take risks, and she’s motivated by her team’s ability to track litigation trends in particular areas. Noting her recent successes were aided by a team that included key associate contributions, Collignon encourages associates to think outside the box and not be afraid to propose novel legal theories—something she stressed that is vital to a career in data privacy.
