Former Director of the Mayor's Office of Legal Counsel Joins BakerHostetler's White Collar, Investigation and Securities Enforcement and Litigation Team

Prominent D.C. practitioner Mark Tuohey adds to the firm's ranks

Washington, D.C. — Mar. 20, 2018 — BakerHostetler today announced the addition of Mark H. Tuohey as of counsel to the firm’s white collar, investigation and securities enforcement and litigation team in Washington, D.C. Tuohey was previously Director of the Mayor’s Office of Legal Counsel under Mayor Muriel Bowser. In this capacity, Tuohey advised the mayor on a variety issues, including law enforcement, the environment, health and safety, education, energy and economic development.

A distinguished member of the bar for more than 45 years and a former federal prosecutor, Tuohey has also served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, Special Counsel to the Attorney General, and periodically appointed by the government as special counsel to conduct investigations into public policy issues.

Tuohey is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He has served as past president of the D.C. Bar, as well as chair of the D.C. Sports and Entertainment Commission, where he was instrumental to bringing the Washington Nationals Major League Baseball team to the District.

A testament to his esteemed reputation and accomplishments, Tuohey has received several accolades including, Washingtonian magazine’s Washingtonian of the Year, D.C. Lawyer of the Year by the Bar Association of the District of Columbia, named a top 100 Most Influential Lawyer in the Washington region, and he is annually named to the Best Lawyers in America.

Tuohey is a member of the District of Columbia and New York Bar, as well as a member of the American Bar Association, where he served in the House of Delegates. He received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and his B.A. from St. Bonaventure University.
