Press Releases / April 17, 2017

WASHINGTON, April 17, 2017 — With Congress seeking to gain traction on key policy initiatives – from overhauling healthcare to tax reform – Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and other top lawmakers from both parties will participate in BakerHostetler’s 28th Annual Legislative Seminar on April 26, providing a front row seat and valuable insight into important legislative developments. The event will take place from 7:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.

With a full house expected of clients and Capitol Hill veterans, this year's program features a new format, providing more one-on-one dialogue with lawmakers, led by former Congressman Mike Ferguson, who now heads BakerHostetler's Federal Policy Team.

Speakers will address the ambitious agenda facing Congress, including items being pushed by the Trump Administration.

“After years of gridlock, Congress is poised to act on key policies that will impact every sector of the economy,” Ferguson said. “At this year’s Legislative Seminar, we’ll give our clients a glimpse into the legislative process and the ability to hear firsthand from key lawmakers in charge of taxes, healthcare, immigration, infrastructure and more.”

In addition to Speaker Ryan, other elected officials participating include:

  • Congressman Steny Hoyer, (D-MD) Minority Whip
  • Congressman Pat Tiberi, (R-OH) Member of Ways and Means Committee; Ways and Means Health Subcommittee Chairman; and Ways and Means Tax Policy Subcommittee
  • Senator Tammy Baldwin, (D-WI) Member of the Appropriations Committee and the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee
