Jason Oliver represents clients with regard to their intellectual property needs in the biotechnology, mechanical, medical device, electrical and pharmaceutical arts. His experience includes counseling and representing plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of patent, trademark and copyright infringement matters, as well as actions involving unfair competition, theft of domain names and trade secrets. In this process, Jason plays an instrumental role in drafting dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions, interviewing clients and witnesses, propounding and answering discovery and participating in court appearances. He is also experienced in coordinating and overseeing large electronic discovery projects.
Prior to his legal career, Jason worked as a Protein Biochemistry Laboratory Research Analyst at Alfacell Corporation and studied novel RNase enzymes for potential cancer-related therapeutics. While attending law school, he was a member of the Syracuse University Law Review and served as an Associate Notes and Comments Editor. Jason’s note, “Reexamining the Meaning of a Substantial New Question of Patentability: Amending The Patent Reexamination Provision’s Threshold Requirement,” was published in the Review in 2003 (53 Syracuse L. Rev. 1093).
Jason is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, as well as the Intellectual Property and Young Lawyer Sections of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA). In 2011, Jason was recognized by Super Lawyers in its New York - Metro “Rising Stars” publication. In early 2008, Jason was the recipient of the NYSBA Intellectual Property Section's Young Lawyer Fellowship Award.
