Jennifer Mills practices primarily in the area of employee benefits and compensation, with a focus on health and welfare plans.
Ms. Mills has devoted a significant part of her practice to the issue of health care reform. In the years leading up to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and since the Act was signed into law in 2010, she has advised clients in all sectors, including employers, insurers and brokers, with regard to compliance with the new regulatory requirements under the Affordable Care Act, and she works with clients to strategically plan for the significant changes that organizations must address under the Affordable Care Act.
Ms. Mills also works extensively in the area of HIPAA and advises clients on all aspects of the privacy and security of protected health information, including the development of HIPAA policies and procedures, workforce training, compliance and breach response.
In addition to advising clients on the Affordable Care Act and HIPAA, Ms. Mills has extensive experience with the design, implementation and administration of health and welfare benefit plans. She advises clients in all types of benefit matters involving ERISA, COBRA, Medicare, plan funding, fiduciary issues and mergers and acquisitions.
Ms. Mills advises clients of all sizes, including both for-profit and tax-exempt organizations and governmental entities, in the area of health and welfare benefits. Her work with health and welfare plans includes all areas of plan implementation and administration, including negotiating contracts, plan documentation, benefit disputes and compliance.
Ms. Mills is a member of the American, Ohio State and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations.
