Martin T. Wymer
Martin T. Wymer serves as Co-Chair of the firm's National Employment Litigation Practice Team. Selected as an Ohio “Super Lawyer” and listed in the Best Lawyers in America directory, Mr. Wymer concentrates his practice in the representation of corporations in complex employment litigation (including executive termination litigation, Sarbanes-Oxley retaliation proceedings and employee wage and hour class action litigation) and day-to-day counseling on general labor relations and employment matters.
He has represented businesses throughout the country in a wide range of industries including automotive, financial, insurance, healthcare, pharmaceutical and manufacturing, with a particular emphasis on the information technology industry.
The majority of Mr. Wymer's time is dedicated to employment litigation, at both the trial and appellate level, involving the interpretation of executive employment agreements, the Fair Labor Standards Act, as well as state and federal discrimination laws such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Equal Pay Act and the Michigan Elliot-Larsen Civil Rights Act.
He also has been involved in numerous cases arising under the Sarbanes-Oxley and Employee Retirement Income Security Acts, as well as those involving work-related tort claims and individual employment contracts. Mr. Wymer has negotiated labor agreements for a wide variety of private and public sector employers including urban school systems, transportation companies and large public transportation systems.
Mr. Wymer is a member of the American Bar Association, Ohio State, Michigan State and Cleveland Bar Associations. He is a frequent lecturer on many topics including internal corporate investigations, wage and hour and discrimination class action litigation, the Americans with Disabilities Act, sexual harassment, corporate workforce reductions, executive termination and electronic discovery issues.
Mr. Wymer has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Easter Seals Northeast Ohio. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland. He annually serves on the Event Committee for the Vogel Alcove (a Dallas-based homeless shelter) and leads the firm's involvement in the Salesmanship Club of Dallas (a nationally recognized nonprofit benefiting underprivileged youth). He is on the Honorary Board of the Cleveland Chapter of the British-American Chamber of Commerce.
