Ruth Hartman focuses her practice in the area of complex litigation. She has experience representing clients in class actions, breach of contract and licensing disputes, domestic relations matters and bankruptcy litigation.
Ruth has experience in trial and appellate advocacy before state and federal courts, as well as in the arbitration and mediation of disputes. She has argued before the Sixth Circuit and has first- and second-chaired cases in both state and federal courts. Significantly, Ruth has defeated a class certification before the Ohio Supreme Court.
In connection with BakerHostetler’s role as court-appointed counsel to the Securities Investor Protection Act (SIPA) Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, Ruth has been involved with numerous adversary proceedings to recover fraudulent transfers from feeder fund defendants for the fund of customer property.
Ruth is a member of the Ohio State and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations.
