Groups representing the nonprofit sector are generally feeling good about greater congressional oversight of federal tax laws, regulations and filing requirements affecting tax-exempt organizations, according to a March 31, 2023, TaxNotes article titled “Nonprofit Reps Weigh In on Ways and Means IRS Oversight Plan.”
However, Partner Alexander Reid told Law360 that, while it is good to promote integrity and prevent fraud, he suspects there is political motivation behind the decision to enhance oversight.
