Matt Raley focuses his litigation practice on products liability, oil field personal injury defense and complex commercial litigation. Driven by his clients’ business objectives, he seeks to accomplish positive outcomes early in the lawsuit by being aggressive, efficient and results-oriented.   • Acted as trial counsel for a Fortune 100 heavy equipment manufacturer in a burn fatality case in which the plaintiffs sought $20 million. A take-nothing judgment was entered against the plaintiffs after a two-week jury trial.
  • Acted as trial counsel for a major international chemical manufacturer in a bellwether trial in a large plant explosion case. Two plaintiffs sought more than $10 million. After a three-week trial, the jury found for the company against one plaintiff and awarded the other plaintiff less than $50,000. No punitive damages were awarded. The defense verdict in the bellwether trial paved the way for resolution of claims of remaining 57 plaintiffs.
  • Lead counsel for a Fortune 500 oil field product manufacturer and service company in an oil field personal injury lawsuit in which the plaintiff claimed back surgery was necessary. Case was resolved at mediation.

  • First-chair prosecution of more than 10 pipeline easement condemnation cases on behalf of the pipeline division of a major integrated oil company.
  • Represented one of the largest onshore oil and gas well-drilling companies in a wrongful death trucking lawsuit. Plaintiffs alleged the accident occurred when a heavy object fell from the bed of the company’s pole truck and flew through decedent’s windshield. Case was resolved prior to trial.
