In his Executive Order on Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad (Jan. 27, 2021), President Biden declared the world faces “a profound climate crisis.” His Administration has committed to expansive measures to “require both significant short-term global reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and net-zero global emissions by mid-century.”
Energy producers face a constant challenge: meeting the rising global demand for energy while reducing net emissions. BakerHostetler held a webinar, co-hosted by the Energy Industry team and the Federal Policy team, discussing this issue with respect to the Biden administration and Congress’ policy priorities related to energy and climate policy. The discussion covered probable initiatives in Congress and the executive branch, with a focus on the Environmental Protection Agency. The panel included senior congressional policy staff – one Democrat and one Republican – in charge of crafting their parties' energy and environmental agendas.
