As a leader of the moderate Blue Dog Coalition, Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy is a forceful advocate among Democrats for pragmatism and compromise in policymaking. Democrats’ majority in the House is narrow – only four seats – and Congresswoman Murphy will play a leading role in shaping the party’s 2021 agenda on taxes, healthcare, energy and more. She serves on the all-important tax-writing Ways and Means Committee and is a member of House leadership as chief deputy whip. A former civilian aide at the Pentagon, Congresswoman Murphy also serves on the Armed Services Committee.

In 2019, BakerHostetler hosted its 30th annual Legislative Seminar, widely considered Washington’s premier annual showcase on legislative policy. COVID-19 forced the cancellation of our in-person event in 2020.

We are back in 2021 – but with a twist. Rather than a one-day, in-person event in Washington, this year’s Legislative Seminar will be a series of virtual discussions with members of Congress scheduled over the coming weeks this spring and summer.
