New Jersey Seeks Exemption to Possible GE Wind Turbine Ban

Patent Row,” addresses New Jersey’s bid to continue working with GE on an offshore wind energy project involving GE’s Haliade-X turbines. A jury held in June 2022 that the turbines use technology that infringes a patent issued to BakerHostetler client Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE); following the June finding, SGRE requested a preliminary injunction against GE’s use of the Haliade-X. According to the article, New Jersey has told a Massachusetts federal judge that its offshore wind energy project predates the jury verdict by three years and is well underway – and that a decision to block New Jersey from receiving GE’s wind turbines would “significantly impede” the state’s project.
