BakerHostetler Continues West Coast Expansion with Addition of Trial Lawyer Victoria Weatherford in San Francisco

Press Releases / August 2, 2021

SAN FRANCISCO – Aug. 2, 2021 – BakerHostetler announced that Victoria Weatherford has joined the firm as a partner in its San Francisco office. Weatherford will be a member of the firm’s litigation group and its commercial litigation practice team.

Weatherford is an experienced trial lawyer, who has particular expertise representing companies in the technology and consumer products industries in class action and government investigation matters. Her practice also includes counseling clients on a wide range of issues related to consumer protection, unfair competition and false advertising.

Weatherford’s arrival follows the July announcement that Bethany Lukitsch joined BakerHostetler as co-leader of its class action defense team, based in Los Angeles, and builds upon the addition of California trial lawyers Robb Adkins, David Aronoff, Kimberly Morris, Bill Oxley and David Stern. The firm has built a robust presence on the West Coast, with the addition of several first-chair trial lawyers covering consumer protection and false advertising, securities and financial services, products liability and mass tort and white collar matters. Since 2019 the firm has added more than 35 attorneys on the West Coast, including opening a San Francisco office.

“BakerHostetler is building an outstanding trial practice in California and I am happy to be a part of that,” said Weatherford. “The firm also has a stellar reputation in consumer protection and data privacy matters, which complements my practice, particularly in Silicon Valley. I look forward to working with my new colleagues both on the West Coast and nationally, across various industries.”

From 2014-2018, Weatherford served as a Deputy City Attorney in the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office, where she first-chaired statewide unfair competition and false advertising cases to trial and served as lead appellate counsel as a member of the officewide Affirmative Litigation Task Force and the Code Enforcement Division.

“We continue to build our presence as a destination trial practice on the West Coast and Victoria Weatherford is another standout addition to our team,” said Robb Adkins, managing partner of BakerHostetler’s San Francisco office. “Her experience, particularly in the state and local government space, is a big differentiator; she will fit well with our culture of collegiality and entrepreneurialism.”

“Victoria has solid credentials and extensive trial experience. It is not surprising that she was honored as a Top 40 Young Lawyer by the American Bar Association,” said W. Ray Whitman, chair of BakerHostetler’s litigation group. “She will be an asset to our litigation team.”

Weatherford earned her J.D. from the Yale Law School, where she served as a notes editor of the Yale Law Journal and executive editor of the Yale Journal on Regulation. She received a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.

Following law school, Weatherford served as a law clerk to the Honorable William B. Shubb of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, and to the Honorable Edward C. Prado of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She also serves on the Executive Committee of the Federal Bar Association for the Northern District of California.

With nearly 400 litigators in offices coast to coast, BakerHostetler’s litigation group represents market-leading clients in virtually every type of case and proceeding, nationally and around the world. The group’s roster of litigators includes former prosecutors, veteran civil trial lawyers and former enforcement officials from various government agencies. Recognized as a “go-to law firm” for its deep bench, commitment to client needs and tenacity, BakerHostetler’s litigation group successfully protects clients in and out of the courtroom.
