NEW YORK – Sept. 7, 2021 – BakerHostetler announced that Carlos Ramos-Mrosovsky has rejoined the firm as counsel in its New York office. He will be a member of the firm’s litigation practice group and the international arbitration and litigation team. Ramos-Mrosovsky was an associate with BakerHostetler from 2007-2012.
“I look forward to returning to a firm with a strategic growth mindset, and commitment to both its clients and its people,” said Ramos-Mrosovsky. “BakerHostetler’s international reputation, along with its breadth and depth of experience, make it a natural fit for both me and my practice.”
Ramos-Mrosovsky represents multinational companies and sovereign governments in commercial and treaty-based international arbitrations and before U.S. federal courts, with emphasis on disputes arising in the energy, mining, and infrastructure sectors.
Ramos-Mrosovsky notably represented the claimant in an International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes administered arbitration resulting in an award of $1.4 billion in compensation for Venezuela’s expropriation of a gold-mining investment. Ramos-Mrosovsky has also recently represented foreign investors challenging the wrongful termination of transportation concessions in African states and the expropriation of petroleum investments in a post-Soviet state. He has also represented numerous award and judgment creditors of foreign sovereigns before U.S. courts.
“Carlos’ international arbitration experience is substantial, particularly in the energy sector,” said litigation practice group chair, Ray Whitman. “As a seasoned international arbitrator and litigator, he brings valuable experience to our growing bench of lawyers who routinely serve clients across the globe.”
Ramos-Mrosovsky is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Princeton University. He co-chairs the International Arbitration Committee of the International Section of the New York State Bar Association.
“It’s great to have Carlos back in our New York office,” said George Stamboulidis, New York office managing partner. “His practice reinforces our international capabilities and our expanding New York presence.”
