Overview

Adama K. Wiltshire advises and represents private- and public-sector clients in traditional labor and employment law matters. Adama has appeared before the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and federal and state courts. She manages labor arbitrations and union campaigns under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), wage and hour claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and discrimination, retaliation and sexual harassment claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

Adama also investigates whistleblower and retaliation complaints, develops employee handbooks, policies and employment agreements, and provides training to in-house counsel and human resources personnel on workplace violence, disability discrimination and other matters.

  • Managed all stages of discovery, including selecting third-party e-discovery vendors, preparing motions to compel, and drafting protective orders.
  • Provided advice and counsel to municipal employers on First Amendment violations, workforce discipline and reductions in force (RIF).
  • Drafted motions opposing certification in wage and hour matters involving meal breaks, rounding, misclassification, the portal-to-portal act, and joint employer issues.
  • Conducted blitz interviews with witnesses to support decertification motions in FLSA matters.
  • Drafted handbooks and provided advice and counsel to employers on Philadelphia paid sick leave and Pennsylvania COVID-19 pandemic regulations.
  • Represented clients in DOL investigations.
  • Prepare and negotiate settlement agreements.
