Gary Alletag has represented both individuals and businesses in a wide range of commercial transactions. His main focus has been in the areas of real estate, energy and financial institutions. Gary served as the Business Group coordinator for the firm’s Houston office for 12 years.

  • Acts as outside counsel for independent oil and gas companies. Representation includes the acquisition and disposition of developed producing properties and the negotiation of development, working capital and equity financing.

Real Estate
  • Represents purchasers and sellers of office buildings, hotels, hospitals, apartments complexes, shopping centers, industrial warehouses, and office and residential condominiums.
  • Advises developers in the acquisition, development and marketing of commercial and residential properties, including shopping centers, industrial parks and residential subdivisions.
  • Negotiates on behalf of lessors’ and lessees’ ground leases, office leases, shopping center and mall leases, and warehouse leases.
  • Represents homeowners’ associations in the establishment and enforcement of restrictive covenants.
Energy and Chemical Industries/Oil and Gas
  • Acts as outside counsel for independent oil and gas companies. Representation includes the acquisition and disposition of developed producing properties and the negotiation of development, working capital and equity financing.
  • Addresses onshore and offshore lease issues, pooling and unitization issues, and dealing with governmental compliance matters.
  • Negotiates purchase and sale agreements, operating agreements, participation agreements, marketing contracts, gas purchase contracts, easements and surface use agreements.
  • Represents large and small service companies providing a range of services to upstream exploration companies in the oil and gas industry. Handles master service agreements, seismic contracts and governmental contracts, and assists in the acquisition of and merger with other companies in the energy services sector.
  • Represents chemical and electric utility industries, including national and international clients in the purchase of hydrofluorocarbon plants and resins plants.
  • Assisted a national electric utility in the construction of a cogeneration plant in South Texas.
  • Has represented pipeline companies and supervised the acquisition of pipeline right-of-way for the construction of a common carrier liquid pipeline from New Mexico to East Texas, which included addressing easement and condemnation issues.
Financial Institutions
  • Represents financial institutions, including national and state banks, savings and loan associations, and federal savings banks.
  • Represents financial institutions with respect to all types of lending, and has vast experience in workouts and foreclosure of distressed properties.
  • Represents national and state trust companies. Has represented trust companies before the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and state banking departments, has supervised litigation involving trust companies, and has been involved in the acquisition and disposition of fiduciary accounts and the legal representation of trusts under the management of trust company clients.
General Business Practice
  • Has acted as outside general counsel for companies, including foreign steel manufacturers, plastics companies, trucking companies, automobile dealerships, corporate lodging companies, advertising agencies and reprographic companies.
