As Senior Trade & Defense Security Advisor, Kevin Miller assists the International Trade team attorneys with economic sanctions, export controls and trade and defense security compliance matters. His experience and knowledge working in the international trade and defense security compliance field give him the tools to navigate the complex processes and procedures associated with a variety of requirements and industries, including the aerospace, defense and maritime industries, as well the firearms, encryption and medical device sectors.
Notably, Kevin assists our attorneys in developing practical and business friendly compliance solutions to issues arising in connection with sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the Department of the Treasury (OFAC), defense security requirements imposed by the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) of the Department of Defense and U.S. export controls administered by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) of the Department of State and the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) of the Department of Commerce.

Kevin assists our International Trade attorneys with a wide variety of projects, including:
- Due diligence in domestic and international corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, financings, joint ventures and distribution arrangements, and preparing related notice and regulatory approval requirements;
- Compliance with U.S. export and import control laws and regulations, including the Arms Export Control Act (AECA), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the controls on importation and sale of arms and ammunition administered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and automated export system (AES) reporting requirements administered by the Census Bureau;
- Compliance with U.S. primary sanctions administered by OFAC and risks associated with secondary sanctions administered by the U.S. Department of State;
