Overview

Mark Krietzman's practice touches all aspects of patents, from strategy, diligence and prosecution to litigation. He prosecutes patents and trademarks and counsels on developing strong patent and trademark portfolios. Through strategic portfolio development and the creation of high-value portfolios that resonate with and enhance clients' immediate business goals, he adds value to his clients’ businesses. Mark has the depth of knowledge and ability to evaluate portfolios, provide freedom-to-operate counseling, and acquire intellectual property rights in order to sustain long-term IP advantage and security. He helps clients fully understand the intellectual property landscape in which they are operating. Mark builds portfolios for his clients in an effective risk-management fashion, providing an armor that can fight against or prevent future litigation.

  • Mark developed a patent portfolio and strategy for stem cell therapies, compositions and cancer vaccines that would protect the composition of progenitor cells, leading to very successful acquisition.
  • When a client working with nutraceutical and biopharma properties of Coffea arabica came to Mark with a compressed time frame before the implementation of the first-to-file system in the USPTO, Mark quickly created core development patents to preserve the client's work. He further developed a patent strategy and portfolio for the client to ensure continued protection for the product.

  • Inventor on U.S. Patents 6,974,223, 6,802,629 and 6,575,593 for USB and IEEE 1394 LED lighting. This portfolio is now owned by ACCO Brands. Co-inventor on a software patent for connecting advertising media with shared digital media, U.S. Patent 8,978, 059.
