Michael Dreznes focuses on patent prosecution and portfolio management in his practice, advising clients primarily in the areas of computer and electrical arts, including machine learning and augmented reality. Utilizing his background as a former software engineer, he helps clients build strategic patent portfolios around a wide array of industry standards such as long-term evolution (LTE), 802.11x, H.266 and Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA).
Michael provides guidance on matters relating to inter partes review, licensing transaction and acquisition due diligence, and invalidity, noninfringement and freedom to operate opinion preparation. He also assists clients with standards targeting and reviewing patent portfolios for standard applicability.
As a software engineer, Michael developed interactive voice response systems, communications protocols and corporate risk management client/server applications. This practical experience gives him valuable insight into clients' strategic business goals and how to best guide them through the myriad of details involved in the patent process.
