Partner Alexander Reid commented on an article in the Sept. 9, 2026, issue of The Bond Buyer titled “Bond Attorneys Warn of ‘Havoc’ from Proposed IRS Tax-Exempt Rule Aimed at Private Schools,” which discussed a proposal to link a private school’s tax-exempt status to discrimination based on race, color or national or ethnic origin. The rule – which is not yet finalized and will most likely face legal challenges – would apply to admissions, scholarships and loans, athletics and any school-administered program.
