About Stern’s practice
Stern has extensive experience in health care regulatory compliance, routinely guiding clients through complex issues involving fraud and abuse laws such as the Stark Law and the federal Anti-Kickback Statute. Her practice also encompasses Medicare and Medicaid regulations, including Medicare Advantage, the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act and a wide range of laws that govern provider operations. Stern is well versed in health care data privacy and information sharing, offering compliance support related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, state privacy laws and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services regulations. She has played a key role in forming accountable care organizations and clinically integrated networks and regularly advises on shared savings programs and incentive-based compensation models.
Additionally, Stern advises clients on day-to-day regulatory issues and conducts due diligence in transactions, change of ownership, licensure and government investigations.
Stern received her J.D. from William & Mary Law School and her B.A. from Duke University.
