NEW YORK — Jan. 5, 2026 — BakerHostetler is pleased to announce Jorian Rose has been selected as the new managing partner of the New York office, succeeding George Stamboulidis, who was one of the founders of the New York office when it opened in 2001 and has led it since 2009. Stamboulidis will continue to co-lead the firm’s White Collar, Investigations and Securities Enforcement and Litigation team.
“Leading BakerHostetler’s New York office for the past 16 years has been an incredible honor,” said Stamboulidis. “I’m thrilled to pass the reins to Jorian, who embodies all the qualities that have fueled our success — strategic insights, a solutions-oriented mindset and the ability to guide both clients and the firm through pivotal moments. With his vision for continued growth and success, our New York office is in excellent hands.”
Rose joined BakerHostetler in 2011 and co-leads the firm’s Restructuring and Bankruptcy team with distinction. Widely regarded for representing clients in complex commercial transactions and restructurings, he regularly represents debtors, creditors, buyers, sellers, committees and boards of directors in all stages of transactions, such as in-court and out-of-court reorganizations, debt restructurings, acquisitions and divestitures.
Rose began his career as a law clerk for Judge Burton R. Lifland, formerly of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York and the Second Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel. Rose later became the general counsel and managing director of Giuliani Capital Advisors LLC, which was acquired by Macquarie Capital (USA) Inc., and then was managing director of Macquarie Capital (USA). He received his juris doctorate from St. John’s University School of Law.
“We are deeply grateful to George for his many contributions to the firm and the tremendous growth and success the New York office has achieved under his leadership,” said Paul Schmidt, chairman of BakerHostetler. “Jorian is an outstanding attorney, a strategic thinker and an accomplished leader who has made meaningful contributions to our clients and our firm. New York remains a critical market for us, and Jorian is ideal to lead our New York office forward by building on our successful brand and core values.”
“It’s a privilege to be able to contribute to the firm’s legacy as New York managing partner,” said Rose. “George has built a foundation of excellence at our New York office and I’m committed to building on it — continuing to invest in areas of strength for the firm, investing in the next generation of practitioners, accelerating our strategic priorities and continuing to deliver the trusted, innovative counsel our clients rely on.”
As BakerHostetler’s New York office celebrates its 25th anniversary, the firm is proud to recommit to its iconic New York City location by signing a 15-year lease at 45 Rockefeller Plaza. The New York office has seen tremendous success and growth over the past 25 years; after opening its doors with three partners, including Stamboulidis, it now is 175 attorneys strong. In New York, the firm has created and strives to maintain an inclusive work environment that fosters collaboration and opportunity across its core practice areas, including commercial litigation, global asset recovery, white collar defense, bankruptcy and restructuring transactions, debt finance, digital assets and data management, labor and employment, and tax, among others. The Commercial Litigation and Global Fraud and International Asset Tracing and Recovery teams are counsel to the Securities Investor Protection Act Trustee for the global liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC. Madoff perpetrated one of the largest financial frauds in history and, so far, the firm has helped recover more than $14 billion for the victims.
