Partner Fernando Bohorquez has been nominated by the President of the New York City Bar to the board of The New York Community Trust, a public grantmaking foundation dedicated to improving the lives of residents of New York City, Westchester, and Long Island. The Trust manages approximately $3 billion in assets. In 2019, the Trust awarded approximately $175 million in grants to over 5,000 nonprofits tackling a wide array of issues ranging from combating poverty, racial injustice and climate change, to supporting the arts and education and affordable housing. Last year, the Trust’s NYC Covid-19 Resilience & Resolve Fund distributed more than $110 million to over 800 nonprofits to assist the City’s response to the pandemic crisis.  Twelve New Yorkers – selected for their judgment, integrity, and understanding of philanthropic needs – serve as the board for the New York Community Trust. Six are nominated by civic authorities: the Mayor of New York City, the Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the chairmen of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and the Partnership for New York City, and the presidents of the City’s Bar Association and the New York Academy of Medicine.  Bohorquez focuses his practice on commercial litigation, intellectual property, and privacy and technology law. He is the Litigation Coordinator for the New York Office and serves on the Firm’s Inclusion and Diversity Council.
