New York partner George Stamboulidis was profiled in a feature article in NEO magazine's September issue. The article focuses on Stamboulidis' experience during his 13 years with the U.S. Department of Justice, prior to joining Baker Hostetler in 2001.  He served in a variety of positions and from 1998 until 2001 was the Chief of the Long Island Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.  Significant cases noted in the article include the prosecution of Vincent "The Chin" Gigante, who for years stayed out of jail by feigning mental illness, and Wen Ho Lee, the former Los Alamos nuclear scientist who was accused of improperly handling classified information.  The article also notes Stamboulidis' appointment by the DOJ as an independent outside monitor for Merrill Lynch in the wake of the Enron case. Speaking to his work as head of the firm's White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations practice group, Stamboulidis said, "I do some of the same work and have some of the same psychic income when I represent corporations which are victimized.  I represent employees and officers of corporations, investors who get victimized by unscrupulous stock brokers and others, and sometimes I do represent those who are alleged to have committed crimes as well.  My years as a prosecutor and my years of cutting my teeth on difficult issues and cases have given me the skill set to succeed as a defense attorney."
