Partner Nikki Morris authored an article for <em>The Houston Lawyer</em> titled “New Changes to Summary Judgment Practice in Texas,” which discusses how the reworked Rule 166a imposes new deadlines and filing requirements for summary judgments. Published in the May/June 2026 issue, the article outlines the changes under the new provision, including how all business courts, district courts and statutory county courts are required to hear oral argument or consider the motion without oral argument no later than 60 days after the motion was filed, or 90 days if certain conditions are met. Morris also covers specific briefing requirements, changes to hearings and guidelines on evidence, as well as procedures that have not changed under the new rule.
