BakerHostetler Partners Poe Leggette and Michael Joy are among those recognized in the Denver Business Journal’s 2015 list of “Who’s Who in Energy.” This is the second consecutive year Leggette has been named to the list. “Who’s Who in Energy” profiles the Denver metro area’s key players in the energy industry — from service providers and lawyers to financiers and more.  “Poe and Michael are key members of our versatile nationwide Energy team and we’re proud to see their work on behalf of our clients recognized,” said Partner Ray Whitman, chair of the Litigation Group. “They play an important role in helping energy companies of all types respond to the changing regulatory and economic environments.”  Leggette, co-leader of the Energy team, represents leading oil and gas companies in transactions, disputes, regulatory proceedings, and other matters. He has obtained precedent-setting victories in court regarding the Rockies Express Pipeline and the rights of mineral owners under the Stock Raising Homestead Act. Leggette is a member of the team representing the Independent Petroleum Association of America and Western Energy Alliance in their opposition to the Bureau of Land Management’s controversial new rules on hydraulic fracturing. In September, the team obtained a motion for a preliminary injunction, delaying the implementation of the rules.  Joy, an energy attorney and geologist who joined the firm last year, serves exploration and production companies, and is nationally regarded as an authority on the administrative and regulatory processes of well spacing and compulsory integration. He has developed energy policy, managed public relations, and lobbied local and state government for land service companies, oil and natural gas operators, and the oil and natural gas industry trade association in New York State.  The “Who’s Who” leaders from Denver — as well as those selected by American City Business Journals publications in Houston, Pittsburgh, Dallas, and San Antonio — will be featured in a special report in the November 27 issue of the Denver Business Journal. The issue will include more than 500 business leaders across multiple industries and states who are driving energy deals and making daily contributions to this vital  industry.
