A BakerHostetler team earned Am Law Litigation Daily Litigator of the Week Runner-Up honors for its role as counsel to Pappas Restaurants in a case before the Supreme Court of Texas. Led by Partner Rachel Palmer Hooper, the team argued that the city of Houston skipped the state’s Chapter 252 competitive-bidding procedures before awarding a 10-year, $470 million food-and-beverage agreement for William P. Hobby Airport to Spain-based Areas, a travel hospitality group. Originally denied, the Jan. 9, 2026, ruling by the Texas Supreme Court said that a 2023 lawsuit filed by Pappas must move forward.
