Washington is deciding how to respond to Iran’s major Saturday <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/israels-netanyahu-vows-victory-after-iran-strikes-fears-wider-conflict-grow-2024-04-14/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">attack</a> on Israel, after the United States and other allies helped Israel prevent significant casualties or damage.

President Joe Biden will host Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’a Al-Sudani for a bilateral meeting, followed by another bilateral with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala.

Biden will spend several days traveling across Pennsylvania for campaign events.

The House will floor <a href="https://www.majorityleader.gov/schedule/weekly-schedule.htm">votes</a> tonight through Thursday taking up legislation supporting Israel and condemning Iran, but leaders are still <a href="https://punchbowl.news/article/mike-johnson-ukraine-israel-iran/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">deciding</a> which bills to move forward.

A busy week of testimony for the president’s cabinet includes Trade Representative <a href="https://waysandmeans.house.gov/event/hearing-on-the-biden-administrations-2024-trade-policy-agenda-with-united-states-trade-representative-katherine-tai/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Katherine Tai</a> at the Ways and Means Committee, Health and Human Services Secretary <a href="https://energycommerce.house.gov/events/health-subcommittee-hearing-fiscal-year-2025-department-of-health-and-human-services-budget" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xavier Becerra</a> at the Energy and Commerce Committee, and Labor Secretary <a href="https://appropriations.house.gov/legislation/hearings/budget-hearing-fiscal-year-2025-request-department-labor" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Julie Su</a>, among <a href="https://appropriations.house.gov/events/hearings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">others</a>, at the Appropriations Committee.

The Energy and Commerce Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee on Wednesday will <a href="https://energycommerce.house.gov/events/innovation-data-and-commerce-subcommittee-hearing-titled-legislative-solutions-to-protect-kids-online-and-ensure-americans-data-privacy-rights" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">review</a> major bipartisan data privacy legislation.

The Senate will be in <a href="https://www.senate.gov/legislative/floor_activity_pail.htm" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">session</a> throughout the week, taking up House-passed <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/7888" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">legislation</a> to reauthorize the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, and potentially the House’s <a href="https://rollcall.com/2024/04/12/house-plans-to-send-mayorkas-impeachment-articles-to-senate-on-tuesday/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">articles of impeachment</a> against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

The cabinet will also make numerous appearances in Senate committees this week, including <a href="https://www.appropriations.senate.gov/hearings/a-review-of-the-presidents-fiscal-year-2025-budget-request-for-the-department-of-health-and-human-services" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Becerra</a>, <a href="https://www.finance.senate.gov/hearings/the-presidents-2024-trade-policy-agenda" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tai</a>, Energy Secretary <a href="https://www.energy.senate.gov/hearings/2024/4/full-committee-hearing-to-examine-the-president-s-budget-request-for-the-u-s-department-of-energy-for-fiscal-year-2025" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jennifer Granholm</a>, and Agriculture Secretary <a href="https://www.appropriations.senate.gov/hearings/a-review-of-the-fiscal-year-2025-presidents-budget-request-for-the-us-department-of-agriculture" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tom Vilsack</a>, among others.

The Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Investigations Subcommittee <a href="https://apnews.com/article/boeing-whistleblower-congress-safety-fuselage-c406e90b087ca45f4fd8d426d1eadae1" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">subpoenaed</a> Boeing CEO David Calhoun to <a href="https://www.hsgac.senate.gov/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">testify</a> Wednesday regarding safety-related allegations from a whistleblower.

Biden will hold separate bilateral meetings today with both <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2024/03/22/statement-from-press-secretary-karine-jean-pierre-on-the-visit-of-prime-minister-mohammed-shiaa-al-sudani-of-iraq-to-the-white-house/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Al-Sudani</a> and <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2024/03/11/statement-from-press-secretary-karine-jean-pierre-on-the-visit-of-prime-minister-petr-fiala-of-czechia-to-the-white-house/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fiala</a>.

Biden will spend the rest of the week in Pennsylvania, beginning tomorrow in his hometown of <a href="https://www.thetimes-tribune.com/news/president-joe-biden-to-spend-time-in-scranton-on-tuesday-wednesday/article_d1b0b5ef-7e51-5e1c-89f9-61a940e56052.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Scranton</a>.

He will also travel to <a href="https://www.post-gazette.com/news/election-2024/2024/04/12/biden-returns-to-pittsburgh-as-part-of-three-day-swing-through-pennsylvania/stories/202404120074" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pittsburgh</a> Wednesday and <a href="https://www.inquirer.com/politics/election/joe-biden-scranton-philadelphia-economics-20240412.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Philadelphia</a> Thursday, recognizing the Keystone State will play a <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/pittsburgh/news/pennsylvania-could-decide-wins-presidency-2024/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">key role</a> in deciding this year’s presidential election.
