Amid a deep partisan stalemate, a government shutdown <a href="https://punchbowl.news/archive/92925-am/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">appears</a> highly likely.

Democrats demand that any funding legislation include an extension of subsidies for Affordable Care Act insurance plans. Neither side seems willing to budge.
