Chairman Paul Schmidt is quoted in an article published on Sept. 14, 2021, by Bloomberg Law. The article “Firms Delay Office Returns, Raising Fear of ‘Irreparable Harm’ ” reports on how the surge of the COVID-19 Delta variant has delayed many major law firms’ return-to-office plans.
Schmidt notes that BakerHostetler has delayed its own office return because of the rapid increase in infections, but told the publication, “How long can we wait ‘til we start doing irreparable harm to your culture, to training, to all those value propositions from in-person interaction?” Regarding voluntary office attendance, he added, “I don’t think it’s sustainable in the long run. The question is: How long can the short run be?”
