Amos Kim handles complex commercial litigation matters for clients in a wide range of industries. He is currently a member of the BakerHostetler team serving as court-appointed counsel to Trustee Irving H. Picard for the SIPA liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, an unprecedented recovery effort involving hundreds of actions.
In addition to experience in all areas of pre-trial litigation, including legal research, drafting and arguing dispositive and evidentiary motions, Amos has an extensive background in discovery, having taken and defended hundreds of depositions by representing the city in more than 300 cases as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the New York City Law Department. His background includes a clerkship with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, where he gained insight into federal practice and judicial decision making.
Before entering law, Amos served eight years in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear machinist mate and engine room supervisor onboard a nuclear submarine. He later worked in the financial sector as a private client banker and advisor with J.P. Morgan Chase and other firms, advising high-net-worth clients on wealth management strategies. These experiences give Amos a unique perspective on business and financial issues that often underlie complex disputes and he brings the same focus, discipline and commitment to achieving results for every client and every case.
