Prior to joining BakerHostetler, Betsy was an Assistant Attorney General with the Georgia Department of Law, serving in the Regulated Industries and Professions Division. There, she routinely provided legal advice to state professional licensing boards on matters involving compliance, licensure applications, investigations, impairment, rulemaking and the extensive regulatory issues that routinely came before the boards, including the Georgia Composite Medical Board, the Georgia Board of Nursing, the State Board of Examiners of Psychologists and many others. Betsy also represented state boards in disciplinary cases before the Office of State Administrative Hearings and in superior court judicial review hearings. Prior to her service with the Georgia Office of the Attorney General, Betsy was the staff attorney for the Georgia Composite Medical Board.

<li>Provided advice, reviewed proposed board rules for statutory authority and monitored legislation.</li>
<li>Prepared hundreds of board orders for mental/physical examinations and negotiated consent orders for multiple licensing boards.</li>
<li>Prosecuted disciplinary cases before the Office of State Administrative Hearings and handled all appeals.</li>
<li>Managed and advised the Georgia Composite Medical Board’s wellness committee. Also served as compliance manager, ensuring board oversight and monitoring of all licensees under consent orders or other board directives.</li>
<li>Represented departments of social services in New York and Massachusetts in child abuse and neglect cases.</li>
