Craig Sonnenschein helps clients navigate complex commercial, antitrust and regulatory disputes, drawing on more than 25 years of litigation experience. His background spans private practice, senior in-house leadership roles and a federal judicial clerkship, giving him a practical perspective on both legal strategy and business risk.
In his current practice, Craig represents clients in high-stakes business disputes in state and federal courts, guiding matters from early case assessment through discovery, dispositive motion practice, trial and appeal. His matters include disputes involving breach of contract, restrictive covenants, interference with business relationships and claims under the Sherman Act and other antitrust statutes.
Craig’s prior in-house experience gives him a client-side perspective on litigation, which he uses to help clients develop strategic and pragmatic solutions. He previously served as head of litigation and compliance for the online travel company Orbitz, where he managed matters involving antitrust, tax, breach of contract, consumer class actions, patent litigation and shareholder claims. His work included managing nationwide sales and hotel occupancy tax litigation against Orbitz.
Craig also served as general counsel of a technology-enabled consumer law firm with a national practice. In that role, he led the firm’s litigation strategy in regulatory and enforcement matters brought by the U.S. Trustee and other regulators, including matters involving novel claims under the Bankruptcy Code and other bodies of law.
Earlier in his career, Craig served as a law clerk to the Honorable Milton Shadur, Senior District Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, during the 2000 to 2001 term. He is a cum laude graduate of Northwestern University School of Law and was elected to the Order of the Coif upon graduation.
