Daniel is highly skilled in developing strategic global patent portfolios in complex, competitive environments and has an in-depth understanding of pharmaceutical life cycles, encompassing both patent and regulatory exclusivity.

Daniel drafts and prosecutes patent applications across pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, diagnostic devices, chemistry and nanotechnology and advises on IP transactions such as due diligence, validity and freedom-to-operate analyses. Daniel brings extensive experience in pharmaceutical technologies, including chemistry, ADCs, ASOs, LNPs, biologics and formulations, across multiple therapy areas including oncology, respiratory and metabolic disease. He is recognized as a skilled communicator with senior stakeholders, clients, peers and external partners. Daniel's work reflects a thoughtful blend of legal acumen and scientific insight, enabling clients to protect and advance cutting-edge innovations.

<li>Represented a top research university in prosecution of a portfolio of patents related to synthesis and use of semiconductor nanocrystals (quantum dots). The lead inventor on the portfolio won a Nobel Prize in chemistry for this research in 2023. Successfully defended one patent in an <em>inter partes</em> review.</li>
<li>Managed an in-licensed portfolio covering a late-stage candidate drug for a major pharmaceutical company. Coordinated with the patent owner on prosecution and defense of numerous international patents, including in post-grant proceedings and litigation. Advised internal stakeholders on questions of loss of exclusivity, patent term adjustment, international patent issues and patent term extension and regulatory exclusivity.</li>
