Kate McMorrow represents a diverse range of clients in all areas of intellectual property and advertising law, including with respect to trademarks, false advertising, unfair competition, copyrights and patents. Her practice includes both domestic and international brand protection and enforcement, from trademark selection, clearance, prosecution and enforcement to providing strategic guidance on IP licenses and assignments, marketing and distribution agreements, branding guidelines, social media marketing, endorsements and advertising matters.

Kate also has extensive experience litigating trademark, trade dress, domain name, false advertising, trade secret, patent, copyright, unfair competition and contract disputes in federal and state courts, as well as before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center and Forum. Kate regularly handles pre-suit investigations, enforcement and negotiation efforts, fact and expert discovery and motion practice, in addition to guiding clients through mediations and settlements. She has authored numerous case-dispositive pre-trial motions and has been involved with high-stakes litigation, helping obtain favorable rulings for clients at both the U.S. Supreme Court and the Supreme People’s Court in China.

Active in the legal community, Kate currently serves on the International Trademark Association’s (INTA) Unreal Campaign Committee, and previously served on INTA’s Internet Committee and Evolving Technologies Subcommittee as well as the IP and Innovation Track Project Team for the INTA Annual Meeting in Singapore. Kate has also served on the executive committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s (LACBA) Entertainment and IP Law Section and Young Attorney Section, and on the Planning Committee for the Young Lawyers Section of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles (WLALA).
