Partner Ed Beckwith has been named a Penn State University (PSU) 2022 Fundraising Volunteer of the Year. A 1971 graduate of PSU’s Eberly College of Science, Beckwith has led fundraising initiatives across the institution; he also teaches at Penn State Law and serves as vice chair of its Board of Advisors. He founded the university’s Gift Planning Advisory Council, serving as its chair for 15 years, and he and his wife have personally made gifts to create numerous PSU scholarships over the years.
According to James W. Houck, interim dean of Penn State Law, Beckwith’s “service and generosity have lifted the college to new heights by advancing efforts to make Penn State Law more affordable, better resourced and strategically poised to meet the future. But what really sets him apart as a volunteer is his talent for inspiring others to unite together behind a common cause. The support he’s marshalled will be touching students’ lives for generations to come,” Houck said.
“I’ve had the privilege of helping others to understand how best to maximize the impact of their charitable giving and the giving of others,” Beckwith said. “And through it all, my greatest joy has been the opportunity to learn from and inspire fellow Penn Staters.”
