Meagan Moore brings an in-depth knowledge of environmental laws and regulations to her practice, focusing on regulatory compliance counseling, environmental litigation and the resolution of environmental liabilities identified in the course of transactions.

She studies each situation to gain a clear picture of the issues involved and works with both clients and attorneys to provide well thought out and practical solutions that will result in the best outcome possible. Meagan has experience providing compliance guidance to support industrial, real estate and municipal clients in matters regarding environmental, health and safety, both domestically and internationally.

  • Counseled county solid waste management district in matters related to drafting and negotiating waste agreements, drafting and approval of waste plan, and securing property and development of waste facilities within county.
  • Represented a private centralized wastewater treatment facility in matters related to environmental compliance, permitting and enforcement, including industrial wastewater discharge permits, air permits and alleged violations of hazardous waste rules which include defending against federal claims filed by U.S. EPA before the Environmental Appeals Board.
  • Represented multiple PRPs in connection with remediation conducted pursuant to the Great Lakes Legacy Act and related claims for natural resource damages under CERLCA.

  • Represented a major oil company in connection with negotiating remediation under Ohio’s Voluntary Action Program of prior refinery site.
  • Successfully negotiated with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency to reduce penalty for allegations against waste management company for solid waste handling violations.
  • Successfully negotiated with state and federal environmental agencies to reduce and eliminate potential penalties for violations discovered pursuant to facility wide environmental compliance audits.
  • Negotiated the transfer and indemnification of environmental liabilities in purchase agreements.
  • Successfully defended client in Ohio Environmental Review Appeals Commission proceeding involving penalties related to the removal of underground storage tanks.
  • Counseled local townships and municipalities during negotiations with solid waste disposal companies.
  • Assisted clients in obtaining grant funding for remedial investigations and cleanup of newly acquired property and navigating Ohio's Voluntary Action Program.
  • Advise clients regarding handling of hazardous materials to ensure compliance with state, federal and international laws.
  • Review and update local regulations addressing environmental matters such as air quality regulations, water pollution, solid waste management and asbestos.
  • Successfully worked with the FAA and a municipality to install a wind turbine.
  • Assist client in securing insurance coverage for liabilities related to environmental contamination at a former operation.
