Partner Artie McConnell commented on how the federal case against Luigi Mangione, admitted shooter of UnitedHealth Group Inc. executive Brian Thompson, could possibly affect the state case against him due to all the publicity surrounding it. In an Aug. 14, 2026, Bloomberg Law article titled “Mangione Pleads Guilty in U.S. Case, Tries to Stop Murder Trial,” McConnell suggested that seating an impartial jury might be difficult, especially if prospective jurors have been reading that the defendant admitted guilt to the same crime in a federal trial.
