His practice encompasses all areas of patent law, including prosecution and post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, patent portfolio valuation and infringement analysis, inter partes review, and litigation in U.S. District Courts. His diverse experience comprises all aspects of electrical and computer technology, including software programming, networking, semiconductor and integrated circuits, optical systems, medical devices, mobile devices, databases, open source hardware and software development, and internetworking devices. In addition to handling patent law matters, Carver has provided copyright infringement analysis for large, Internet-related technology companies and has co-authored various articles in this space.</p>  <p>Before law school, Carver was a lead software engineer for a multinational financial services corporation. In that position, he led teams of on- and offshore engineers in developing financial software systems for Fortune 500 companies, created a proprietary unit-testing platform and guided grassroots engineering teams to improve engineering quality throughout the organization.</p>  <p>Carver received his B.S. in computer engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where he co-led the Patent Law Society and served in various editorial positions for the <em>Berkeley Law and Technology Journal</em> and <em>Berkeley Journal of African-American Law & Policy</em>.</p>  <h5>About Morse’s practice</h5>  <p>Morse has extensive experience in the strategic planning, development and management of global patent portfolios tailored to individual business needs. He leads teams to build U.S. patent portfolios that deter competitors and attract venture funding. He also collaborates with foreign counsel to secure patents across the world, including in Australia, China, Germany, India, Japan, Korea and the U.K. From his years seconded at a Fortune 5 company, Morse provides an in-house perspective that supports a holistic approach to the practice of patent law.</p>  <p>Before beginning his legal career, Morse worked at an established startup where he developed programming solutions for automating the testing and measurement of file-based media.</p>  <p>Morse received his B.S. in computer science, with distinction, from the University of Oklahoma, his Master of Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and his J.D., with honors, from George Washington University Law School.</p>  <h5>Key quote</h5>  <p>“Duane and Kyle have enviable practices and sought-after patent prosecution experience, as well as portfolio management and Patent Trial and Appeal Board and oral proceedings skills.
