The filings are part of a broader restructuring strategy aimed at obtaining recognition of the Spanish insolvency cases in the U.S. Such recognition may be necessary because the Spanish restructuring could involve the sale or restructuring of U.S.-based assets. With operations in Spain, Germany and the U.S., the Tubos Reunidos Group manufactures and sells specialized stainless steel tubes used in the oil and gas industry and energy-generation industries. The company has accumulated heavy debt, and the shifting global trade has resulted in lost business.
