Justin P. A former federal prosecutor, Murphy counsels corporate and individual clients involved in both government enforcement of complex antitrust and fraud matters and white collar criminal and related civil matters.

Murphy joins BakerHostetler from an AmLaw 50 firm and is the latest strategic addition to the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, which most recently saw the arrival of top-notch litigator <a href="https://www.bakerlaw.com/professionals/david-r-fertig/">David Fertig</a> in 2023.

With more than two decades of high-profile antitrust and white collar litigation experience, Murphy brings a sophisticated, well-rounded practice to the firm’s nationally recognized Litigation Practice Group, which was named, for the second year in a row, a BTI “Intimidating Opponent,” one of only 44 firms to receive this recognition.

Murphy’s arrival and impressive legal talent will be at home in the firm’s Antitrust and Competition team, comprising more than 50 lawyers across the United States, many of them former high-ranking regulators from key government agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice as well as former state attorneys general.

Murphy is a highly sought-after litigator with a wealth of experience counseling clients on antitrust cartel enforcement and procurement fraud, other government prosecutions, enforcement actions and investigations, and internal investigations. His focus on criminal antitrust investigations includes bid-rigging, price-fixing, procurement fraud, labor market practices, and no-poach and market allocation in a variety of industries. He is also experienced in other white collar matters, including internal corporate investigations; False Claims Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, cybersecurity, securities enforcement, federal grand jury and inspector general investigations; and trials and appeals.

Prior to entering private practice, Murphy served as a trial attorney for the DOJ’s Criminal Antitrust Division, where he investigated and prosecuted regional, domestic and international cartel cases as well as procurement fraud, wire fraud, mail fraud and obstruction matters. Murphy has substantial experience working with corporate leniency applicants, including in several high-profile criminal investigations.

Murphy received his B.A. from Claremont McKenna College and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
