Partners Michael Moyer, John Lehrer, Nicholas Mowbray, Martin Booher, Gary Alletag and Thomas Hogan and Associates Jonathan Sheewon Park, Joshua Wilson and Chisup Kim advised BKV Corporation in the strategic carbon capture joint venture between wholly owned subsidiary BKV dCarbon Ventures, LLC and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, a Danish investment firm specializing in infrastructure investments. The transaction will expand BKV’s portfolio of carbon capture, utilization and sequestration (CCUS) projects.

Copenhagen, on behalf of its Energy Transition Fund I, will commit up to $500 million for investment by the joint venture to use in designing, constructing and operating projects across the U.S. in exchange for up to a 49% interest in the joint venture. For its part, BKV has contributed its ownership of the Barnett Zero (BKV’s first carbon capture and sequestration project) and Eagle Ford projects and committed to future contributions of CCUS projects, related assets and/or cash in exchange for a 51% interest in the joint venture.
