Of Counsel Janine Anthony Bowen spoke on a panel titled “Plenary: Board Independence and Mission Alignment in a Polarized Era” at the 2026 Foundation Leadership Forum by the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges, Feb. 1-3, 2026, in San Diego, California. The panel addressed the challenges to board autonomy and academic freedom faced by higher education, as well as the importance of fiduciary independence and mission alignment for their supporting foundations.
