Partner John Carney serves as co-chair and will take part in several panels for the PLI program Basics of Accounting for Lawyers 2026, May 26-27, 2026, in New York, New York, and virtually. The program will provide a basic knowledge of accounting concepts for lawyers, as well as examine the ethical dilemmas they face when handling financial matters.
Attorneys will learn to:
- Understand Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Have better insight into financial statements and what they mean
- Identify additional regulatory or accounting issues that should be top-of-mind
- Gain insight into the different types of auditor opinions and take a deep dive into the audit process
- Navigate the internal control function and the regulatory requirements
