On August 16, 2022, Partner Jeewon Serrato was quoted in “Big tech antitrust bill could create data sharing requirements,” published in Global Data Review. Serrato says lawyers could be required to rewrite contracts because under the proposal, contracts could no longer prevent the portability of data. She adds that legislators are increasingly encouraging data sharing. “It seems to me the American Innovation and Choice Online Act is creating a bridge between antitrust considerations and the state portability rights given in the state data privacy laws,” she says.
