About Romero
Romero has extensive experience in health care and procurement fraud litigation, civil rights investigations, compliance, and government investigations. In her time as U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, she served more than 5 million people residing within nine counties covering about 4,700 square miles. Romero focused the EDPA’s efforts on the prosecution of violent crime, fraud and civil rights violations while also leading proactive anti-crime efforts through community engagement, youth outreach and reentry initiatives.
As U.S. Attorney, Romero successfully oversaw numerous complex financial fraud and public corruption cases and helped secure the convictions of two former union leaders for embezzling union funds and related charges. During her tenure, the district also maintained one of the most active affirmative civil enforcement dockets in the country, leading the EDPA in recovering millions of dollars through False Claims Act settlements.
Romero previously held the position of assistant U.S. Attorney, where she managed complex fraud, civil rights, firearms, drugs, environmental and tax matters on the prosecution docket. Romero also represented the government in defensive civil litigation in tort, employment, civil rights and administrative law matters.
Romero received her J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law and a B.A. from Trenton State College, now The College of New Jersey.
