Chief Information Officer Katherine Lowry was quoted in a Legaltech News article about the future of ChatGPT and artificial intelligence (AI)-related roles in the legal industry. The March 6, 2023, article is titled “UK Firm Mishcon de Reya is Hiring a GPT Specialist. Will Others Follow?”
Lowry told Legaltech News that BakerHostetler has no immediate plans to hire a GPT specialist. “We have spent a lot of time developing roles to help us to support the integration and adoption of technologies such as creating roles around legal process engineers and citizen data scientists. Specifically, I have a role as senior manager of digital innovation and data science. And I believe that the roles that we’ve created all those years ago will come into play here,” she said.
When additional hiring in this area does occur, Lowry said, a specific AI model will not be the focus of those positions because the models are going to keep changing. She advised all businesses to think more broadly about these types of positions for that reason.
