Jason has a decade of experience advising early- to late-stage companies in the automotive and mobility industries on liability, privacy and regulatory issues related to connected and automated vehicle technologies, including the commercialization and deployment of innovative mobility technologies. He has also interfaced with regulators on behalf of established technology leaders and emerging companies, including with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
Prior to joining BakerHostetler, Jason served as Head of Litigation and Regulatory for Bird, the largest micromobility operator in North America by market share. There, he advised the company on data sharing and protection, commercial contracts and other issues; represented the company in enforcement proceedings; and managed more than 200 product liability, class-action, employment, commercial and securities cases.

<li>Defending wheelchair and mobility equipment company in consolidated proceedings of putative class actions arising from a data breach of employee and customer information (M.D. Tenn.).</li>
<li>Defending cooperative food wholesaler in putative class action litigation arising from a ransomware attack (D. Kan.).</li>
<li>Defeated class certification in putative class action against a multinational automaker alleging safety-related defects in panoramic sunroofs, resulting in favorable resolution for client. (S.D. Ohio).</li>
<li>Defeated class certification in actions against a multinational pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical technologies corporation alleging false advertising and fraud in the marketing of products containing trans fat, leading to favorable settlement for client (E.D.N.Y.).</li>
<li>Defeated formation of industry-wide MDL on behalf of a global electronics company in litigation against manufacturers of Energy Star-certified televisions, leading to resolution of the dispute in the client’s favor (D.N.J.).</li>

<li>Advised OEM on hydrogen truck deployment with major e-commerce company, including data sharing terms.</li>
<li>Drafted regulatory submissions and public comments to NHTSA and FMCSA on behalf of technology companies.</li>
<li>Defeated class certification in putative class action against a multinational automaker alleging safety-related defects in panoramic sunroofs, resulting in favorable resolution for client (S.D. Ohio).</li>
<li>Achieved early dismissal of claims against a multinational automaker alleging consumer fraud in marketing and sale of keyless ignition systems (C.D. Cal.).</li>
<li>Acted as coordinating and motions counsel to assert personal jurisdiction defenses in dozens of related lawsuits against two automobile brands in various California Superior Courts, resulting in several dismissals of claims against client.</li>
