Artie McConnell has joined BakerHostetler’s New York office as a partner in the nationwide <a href="https://www.bakerlaw.com/services/litigation/">Litigation Practice Group</a> and a member of the <a href="https://www.bakerlaw.com/services/white-collar-investigations-and-securities-enforcement-and-litigation/">White Collar, Investigations and Securities Enforcement and Litigation team</a>. McConnell joins BakerHostetler after serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York for 10 years.

He will counsel and represent companies and individuals in a broad range of high-stakes criminal and civil enforcement actions, cross-border regulatory proceedings, internal investigations and compliance matters.

With a decade of experience trying complex cases in numerous practice areas and holding key leadership positions with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, McConnell is a solid addition to BakerHostetler’s Litigation Practice Group. He, Solari and Mannino will lead the new National Security Investigations and Litigation Task Force, which will help clients address sensitive issues at the intersection of business and national security, including corporate national security enforcement, economic sanctions and export controls, economic espionage and trade secret theft, transactional due diligence and monitoring, critical incident and cybersecurity response, anti-corruption, congressional investigations and military defense, and government access to information and classified litigation.

As an assistant U.S. attorney, McConnell tried complex, high-profile cases as lead counsel in nearly every practice area, including securities fraud, public corruption, cybercrime and national security matters. He held several leadership positions within the U.S. Attorney’s Office, most recently as deputy chief of the National Security and Cybercrime section, where he supervised and handled some of the most sensitive and complex terrorism, espionage and cybersecurity cases in the nation. McConnell also served as head of the office’s global sanctions and export control enforcement program, where he focused on dual-use technologies and the energy sector.

McConnell’s cases were frequently cited by government agencies in compliance guidance issued to the private sector. He twice received attorneys general awards, including the John Marshall Award for his trial advocacy and the Distinguished Service Award — the Department of Justice’s second-highest honor — for his sanctions and export control work.

McConnell received both a Master of Arts and a J.D. from The George Washington University.
